Who We Are
-
Founded in Winnipeg, Manitoba by Alden Neufeld, Size Architecture was created out of a need for a more responsive and client-focused approach to design.
Alden recognized that many firms were not meeting client expectations when it came to communication, efficiency, and clarity. He set out to build a team that shares a passion for solving problems, simplifying the process, and delivering meaningful results.
Today, the firm continues to grow, with offices now in Arizona and Winnipeg, using that same mindset: to create spaces that are functional, intuitive, and aligned with each client’s vision.
-
We take a collaborative, client-first approach to every project. Working closely to understand our clients goals and translate them into clear, effective design solutions.
Our process is efficient, responsive, and focused on reducing complexity, so the experience feels effortless from start to finish. The result is architecture that is thoughtful, intentional, and sustainable built to stand the test of time.
-
Size Architecture is built on a foundation of respect, integrity, collaboration, sustainability, and purposeful design.
We believe the best outcomes come from truly understanding our clients by creating an environment where they feel heard, supported, and confident throughout the process. Every project is approached with intention, transforming ideas into spaces that are functional, adaptable, and built to last.

It depends on the scope of your project. While not every commercial renovation in Winnipeg legally requires an architect. An architect can help determine permit requirements, ensure compliance with the Manitoba Building Code, coordinate with engineers and consultants, and streamline the approval process.
At Size Architecture, we often assist clients during the early planning stages with code analysis, occupancy reviews, permit consulting, and feasibility assessments. Even if an architect isn't legally required, involving one early can help identify potential issues before construction begins, reducing delays, unexpected costs, and redesigns.
Not sure if your project requires an architect? Contact us for an initial consultation, and we'll help determine the requirements for your renovation.

Architects help guide projects from the initial concept through construction, ensuring the design is functional, code-compliant, and aligned with your goals. Depending on the project, our services may include feasibility studies, site analysis, concept design, design development, construction drawings, permit applications, code analysis, occupancy reviews, consultant coordination, tender support, and construction administration.
-
Architects and interior designers have complementary roles in the design process. Architects focus on the overall building, including space planning, building code compliance, life safety, accessibility, structural coordination, building permits, and the technical documentation required for construction. Interior designers focus on the interior environment and creating spaces that are both functional and visually engaging.
On many commercial projects, architects and interior designers work together to deliver the best results. At Size Architecture, we regularly collaborate with interior designers by providing code analysis, occupancy reviews, permit drawings, and technical support, allowing each team to focus on their areas of expertise while creating successful spaces for our clients.
-
The earlier, the better. Involving an architect during the initial planning stages can help you evaluate the feasibility of your project, identify zoning and building code requirements, establish a realistic budget, and avoid costly changes later in the design or construction process.
An architect can help determine what's possible before significant time or money is invested. Early planning also helps streamline permit applications, coordinate consultants, and keep your project moving efficiently.
At Size Architecture, we often begin by providing feasibility assessments, code analysis, occupancy reviews, and permit consulting to help clients make informed decisions before design work begins.

Yes, we work with property owners, businesses, developers, and interior designers to renovate and reposition existing commercial buildings. Whether you're updating an office, restaurant, retail space, industrial facility, or multi-tenant property, we can help guide the project from the early planning stages through construction.
We work closely with clients to improve the functionality, appearance, and long-term value of existing buildings while ensuring the renovation complies with applicable building codes and regulatory requirements.
-
Every project is unique, so timelines vary depending on the size, complexity, approvals required, and construction schedule. The architectural design process may take anywhere from a few weeks for a small renovation to several months for larger residential or commercial projects.
After the design phase, permit review, tendering, and construction will also influence the overall timeline. Renovations are often completed more quickly than new buildings, while larger or more complex developments typically require additional planning and coordination.
At Size Architecture, we work closely with our clients, consultants, and contractors to establish realistic timelines, coordinate each stage of the project, and help keep the process moving efficiently from concept through construction.
